Matthias Reim discusses financial recovery and late fatherhood

German Schlager singer Matthias Reim has opened up about significant personal challenges regarding his finances and family life. In recent media appearances, Reim revealed that he previously faced a severe financial crisis that left him “completely broke.” He attributed the debt to a former manager who held power of attorney and made unsuccessful investments with his assets.

Reim credited his brother, Christoph, a banker based in Milan, with saving him from bankruptcy in 2010 by paying 500,000 euros to resolve the situation. As a result of this experience, Reim stated that he now exclusively trusts his brother with his financial matters.

Additionally, Reim discussed the emotional complexities of becoming a father later in life. Following the birth of his daughter, Zoe, in 2022, the singer expressed concerns about his age. As he approaches 70, he admitted to worrying about how much time he will have left to see his daughter grow up and complete her education.
