Matthias Reim faces family changes and tax dispute

German singer Matthias Reim is facing significant personal and financial changes. His son, Julian Reim, has announced his departure from his father’s band to pursue a solo career, a move Reim described as “breaking my heart.” Additionally, Reim and his wife, Christin Stark, are relocating from their large home in Stockach to a smaller residence in Überlingen.

Separately, Reim revealed he was required to pay a €35,000 tax back payment following a dispute with the tax authorities. The issue arose because the tax office determined that his previous marriage to Sarah Stanek had effectively ended in 2013 due to a permanent separation, despite the official divorce not occurring until 2017. The investigation into his marital status was reportedly prompted by media coverage of his relationship with Christin Stark.
