Matthias Reim faces tax bill and sells Lake Constance home
German singer Matthias Reim is facing significant financial and lifestyle changes. He was recently ordered by the tax office to pay 35,000 euros in back taxes due to a failure to report a permanent separation from his former wife in 2013. Although the divorce was not finalized until 2017, German tax law dictates that individuals must actively report a permanent separation to move from the more favorable tax class 3 to tax class 1.
In addition to these financial issues, Reim is selling his 600-square-meter family home in Stockach near Lake Constance. He stated that the property had become too large for his current household, which now consists of himself, his wife Christin Stark, and their daughter. The family has relocated to a smaller apartment in Überlingen, though Reim will continue to use his recording studio at the former residence.
