Matthias Reim releases breakup duet “Keine Freunde bleiben” with Mia Julia

German schlager veteran Matthias Reim, 68, has issued a new duet titled “Keine Freunde bleiben” with party‑singer Mia Julia. The track was recorded in Reim’s studio on Lake Constance and addresses the idea that after a breakup a clear cut can be the most honest solution for both parties.

Reim said the song’s message – “I don’t want to suffer any longer, let’s not stay friends” – reflects his belief that not every former relationship should turn into friendship. The collaboration was suggested by his son Julian, who urged his father to sing the song with Mia Julia. The 39‑year‑old vocalist, known since 2012, impressed Reim with a “one‑take wonder” performance. The duet will appear on Reim’s forthcoming album “Flashback.”
