Matthias Reim releases new album ‘Flashback’ and discusses family in music

German singer Matthias Reim has released a new album titled ‘Flashback’, which draws inspiration from his previous musical works. The 68-year-old artist stated that the project aims to move away from current trends and charts to focus on creative authenticity. Some tracks even incorporate snippets from his older hits, such as the song ‘Aus meinem Kopf’.

Reim also discussed his family's involvement in his career. While he initially attempted to steer his children, Marie and Julian Reim, away from the music industry to protect them from its challenges, both eventually pursued musical paths following internships in recording studios. Reim noted a close musical exchange with his son, Julian, who has previously been part of his tour band.

Regarding his future performance venues, Reim explicitly ruled out a comeback to the ‘Ballermann’ party scene. He also addressed his recent collaboration with singer Mia Julia, noting that the partnership came as a surprise to him.
