Matthias Strolz discusses new book and Austrian politics

Matthias Strolz, the founder of the Austrian political party NEOS, has released a new book titled ‘Homo Universus’ following four years of writing. In recent interviews, Strolz discusses the challenges posed by artificial intelligence and advocates for a ban on social media use for children and adolescents, stating that youth are currently acting as ‘guinea pigs’ for a culture they cannot control.

Reflecting on his departure from active politics, Strolz criticized the current state of Austrian party politics, describing it as a ‘puppet theater.’ He expressed disappointment regarding the direction of NEOS, suggesting the party has betrayed its ideals in certain areas, specifically citing the lack of significant cuts to party funding despite budget reductions in social spending, families, and culture. He also commented on the broader political landscape, noting a slow decline in traditional major parties like the SPÖ and ÖVP.
