Matthias Würsching wins German pumpkin championship with 986 kg giant
In recent agricultural competitions, giant pumpkin growers in Germany and Switzerland have secured major titles. In Ludwigsburg, Germany, Matthias Würsching reclaimed the German Pumpkin Weighing Championship title with an Atlantic Giant weighing 986 kg. This victory placed him more than 400 kg ahead of the runner-up, the PA-Scha team from Brandenburg, which recorded 561.5 kg.
In Switzerland, Florian Isler secured his third Swiss Pumpkin and Vegetable Weighing Championship title in Rapperswil-Jona. Isler presented an Atlantic Giant weighing 651.5 kg. During the event, Isler also established three Swiss records: the heaviest Bushel Gourd at 136.6 kg, the longest sunflower at 7.695 meters, and the heaviest watermelon at 97.2 kg.
In the German regional context, Matthias Würsching also participated in the Hessian pumpkin championship, where he noted that extreme summer heat presented significant challenges for growing large Atlantic Giant specimens.
