Mattia Atzori Corona receives two national physics awards

Researcher Mattia Atzori Corona, an alumnus of the University of Cagliari, has received two major national awards for his work in physics.

In July, he was awarded the ‘Bruno Rossi’ Prize by the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN). This honor is presented annually to the two best Italian doctoral theses in the field of astroparticle physics. His research, titled ‘Phenomenology of Neutrino Interactions for Coherent Neutrino-Nucleus Scattering and Dark Matter Experiments’, focuses on neutrino interactions, testing the Standard Model, and searching for new physics.

Additionally, during the 112th National Congress of the Italian Physical Society in Florence, Atzori Corona received the 2026 ‘Antonio Stanghellini’ Grant for Theoretical Physics. This award recognizes his contributions to the study of neutrino properties. His research was conducted at the University of Cagliari under the supervision of Matteo Cadeddu, involving collaborations with experiments such as DarkSide-20k, ARIA, and NUCLEUS.
