Mattia Esposito signs for Napoli from Sorrento

Napoli secured the transfer of 15‑year‑old forward Mattia Esposito, previously linked with Cagliari, after club president Aurelio De Laurentiis intervened with a direct phone call. The deal, valued at around €700,000 plus a future resale clause, was confirmed as the player chose Napoli over the Sardinian side.

Former youth coach Giampiero Buonocore praised Esposito’s abilities, noting his “one‑on‑one quality that few have” and comparing him to Spanish prodigy Lamine Yamal. He highlighted the youngster’s speed, dynamic change of pace, technical skill and versatility on the left flank, describing him as a “very smart and available” Napoli native who has already progressed from the Under‑16 squad to the first team.

The signing is seen as a strategic move by Napoli to develop a promising talent who could contribute to the senior squad in the coming seasons.
