Lazio fans stage massive Rome protest against president Claudio Lotito

On 2 July, roughly 20 000–25 000 Lazio supporters marched from Rome’s Ponte Milvio to the Flaminio stadium, creating what organizers called the largest fan dissent in Italian football history. The demonstration, aimed at club president and senator Claudio Lotito, featured banners, chants and speeches. Regional President Francesco Rocca attended, stating he was “here to listen to the suffering of the fans.” Former players Beppe Signori, Alessandro Nesta and Paolo Veron sent video messages expressing support for the supporters.

The protest coincided with a busy transfer window for Lazio. Negotiations for goalkeeper Ivan Provedel’s move to Inter Milan were reported to be nearing completion, with a fee of about €3 million. Parma finalized the permanent signing of defender Franco Carboni from Inter, while forward Lucas Beltrán left Fiorentina to return to River Plate in Argentina.

The event highlighted growing discontent with Lotito’s management of the club, drawing attention from both the sporting community and regional politics.
