Mattias Skjelmose reportedly dissatisfied at Lidl-Trek

Danish cyclist Mattias Skjelmose is reportedly experiencing dissatisfaction within the Lidl-Trek team following the recruitment of several new climbers, including Juan Ayuso. While Skjelmose and Ayuso have demonstrated they can work together, as seen in their sixth and seventh place finishes at the Tour de France, the influx of new talent has raised concerns regarding his role as a primary leader.

Speculation has linked Skjelmose to other teams, specifically Uno-X Mobility and Netcompany INEOS. However, reports suggest that interest from INEOS has faded, and while a move to the Scandinavian-based Uno-X Mobility has been rumored, Skjelmose is currently under contract with Lidl-Trek until the end of 2028. Some analysts suggest it is most probable that he will honor his existing contract.
