Matty, 12-year-old from Lucca, competes in Pokémon World Championships

Matty, a 12-year-old from Lucca, Italy, has traveled to California to compete in the Pokémon Trading Card Game World Championships. Held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco from August 28 to 30, the event features Matty representing Italy as part of a national team of young players.

Matty’s journey to the world stage began at the Lucca Comics & Games festival, where he participated in a Play Lab to learn the game. He secured his spot in the championships after winning a regional tournament in Turin this past June. He will serve as an ambassador for the Lucca Comics & Games festival during the competition, wearing the festival's logo on his jersey.
