Maturín municipal workers denounce unpaid bonuses and forced retirements

The Single Union of Public Employees of the Maturín Mayor's Office and Municipal Council (Suep-Concejo) has denounced unpaid benefits and forced retirements within the local government in Monagas state.

Union leaders are demanding a dialogue with Mayor Ana Fuentes to address labor rights and contractual agreements. Specifically, workers are seeking the payment of a $65 bonus granted by the national government, which remains unpaid.

The union also reported that long-term employees, some with over 30 years of service, are being subjected to forced retirements outside of collective bargaining agreements. They claim severance payments ranging from 13,000 to 15,000 bolívares are insufficient and violate labor laws. The situation reportedly affects a payroll of approximately 7,000 workers across the mayor's office and autonomous institutes.
