Matvey Safonov survives warm-up collision to start PSG match

Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Matvey Safonov suffered a heavy facial collision during a pre-match warm-up before a Ligue 1 fixture against Lille. The incident occurred when Safonov, attempting to clear a cross, collided with goalkeeper coach Borja Alvarez. The impact left the Russian goalkeeper momentarily stunned on the pitch, prompting immediate medical attention and causing concern for the coaching staff.

Despite the scare, Safonov was cleared to play after receiving medical care. A 15-minute delay in the match start, attributed to stadium entry issues, allowed the goalkeeper additional time to recover. Safonov ultimately started the match and played the full duration.

The match itself ended in a 2-2 draw. Lille held a 2-0 lead following goals from Hakon Haraldsson and Dilane Bakwa, but PSG secured a late comeback with goals from Vitinha in the 91st minute and Marquinhos in the 95th minute.
