Matvey Safonov leads PSG to victory over Brest

Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Matvey Safonov delivered a standout performance during a 1-0 victory against Brest in Ligue 1. After facing criticism regarding his efficiency and starting position following a defeat to Monaco, the Russian goalkeeper recorded six saves and a clean sheet to secure the win.

Safonov, who was named man of the match, addressed recent scrutiny with a mix of confidence and humor. When questioned about doubts regarding his form or criticisms from the media, he claimed to be unaware of such remarks, stating, “Who?” and “I’m surprised, I didn’t see, I’m not looking at that.” He also remarked that he could not understand the concept of doubting his abilities.

The performance helps stabilize PSG’s early season following two draws and a loss, and it temporarily settles internal debates regarding the team's goalkeeper hierarchy involving Lucas Chevalier.
