MAUAL audiovisual showcase begins in Cuiabá

The 25th Latin American University and Independent Audiovisual Showcase (MAUAL) begins this Tuesday in Cuiabá, Brazil. Held at the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT), the event features a competitive showcase of 46 films, alongside a parallel showcase of 51 films and six music videos.

This year’s edition, themed “Terra em Transe, Imagens em Movimento,” received a record 494 submissions. The selection includes works from 25 productions in Mato Grosso, 16 other Brazilian states, and several Latin American countries, including Colombia, Cuba, Uruguay, Venezuela, and Ecuador.

The programming includes film screenings, educational activities, and discussions with filmmakers. The event will conclude on Saturday with an awards ceremony and a tribute to Cuiabano actor and director Rosalvo Caçador.
