Maudy Ayunda celebrates Indonesian Independence Day in traditional Batak attire

Maudy Ayunda celebrated Indonesian Independence Day by sharing portraits on Instagram featuring traditional Batak attire. She wore a maroon Ulos Vintage Hiou Simalungun, Bulang Sulappei, which she noted is traditionally used as a headpiece for Tor Tor dancers when two shawls are combined.

Her ensemble also included a red bead Sortali necklace from the Karo tradition, typically worn on the forehead by brides. The visual presentation, captured by photographer Chris Uarna, featured a Batak wood carving and a large red and white painting titled ‘Great Power of Nusantara’ by Yayatsurya to represent the Indonesian flag.
