Maui issues high surf warnings due to Hurricane Lowell

A high surf warning has been issued for south-facing shores in Maui due to the northward movement of Hurricane Lowell. Surf levels are expected to peak overnight before the hurricane swell energy declines on Tuesday as the storm moves away from the islands.

In addition to the hurricane swell, a moderate south swell and an east swell from former Tropical Storm Karina are expected to influence ocean conditions. East-facing shores remain under a high surf advisory, with surf levels expected to remain elevated through Tuesday.
