Maulana Fazlur Rehman calls for political dialogue in Pakistan

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has called for political moderation and dialogue to resolve Pakistan’s current political imbalance. Speaking in Islamabad following a meeting with an opposition delegation, Rehman emphasized that political differences should be addressed through respectful discussion rather than force.

Rehman noted that while he was not part of the recent negotiations between the government and the opposition, he supports the principle of dialogue. He stated that the opposition has invited him to participate in an All Parties Conference (APC) to develop a shared agenda and a common strategy. He indicated he would consult with his party regarding this invitation.

Additionally, Rehman defended the right to peaceful protest, specifically urging the government not to obstruct the planned long march by the Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He asserted that a long march is a democratic right and that the government should trust political parties when they commit to maintaining peace during demonstrations.
