Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Bareilvi calls for end to reservation policies
Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Bareilvi, President of the All India Muslim Jamaat, has called for the scrapping of reservation policies in India, arguing that the nation's economic and social conditions have improved significantly. Speaking in Bareilly, Bareilvi noted that many families who previously lived in poverty now reside in permanent homes and possess greater purchasing power, such as owning motorcycles and cars. He suggested that granting everyone General status would eliminate discrimination and resolve long-standing tensions.
His comments come amid ongoing debates and protests in Maharashtra regarding reservation demands. In response to political concerns regarding the OBC quota within Maratha reservations, BJP legislator Ram Kadam defended the state government's actions. Kadam stated that the government has fulfilled most demands and emphasized that the current administration stands with the Maratha community.
