Chile weather alerts issued for northern heat and winds

Chile is facing diverse weather patterns across several regions. In the north, the Tarapacá and Arica y Parinacota regions are under preventive early alerts due to a high-altitude trough. This phenomenon is expected to bring extreme heat reaching 32°C on the coast, alongside strong winds with gusts up to 70 km/h. The instability also threatens the mountainous areas with rain, snow, and electrical storms.

In the Maule region, authorities are preparing for potential summer heatwaves by advancing the implementation of forest fire brigades. While Talca is currently expecting pleasant spring weather with clear skies and temperatures around 21°C, officials are prioritizing prevention for the upcoming season. Additionally, the Ñuble region has been placed under a preventive early alert for wind, snow in the mountains, and moderate precipitation.

In terms of infrastructure, the Maule Regional Council has approved over 1.7 billion pesos for the conservation of the M-420 route in Empedrado to improve rural connectivity.
