Maura Higgins to host Disney+ reboot of Blind Date

Disney+ has announced that Maura Higgins will host a reboot of the classic dating series ‘Blind Date’, set to premiere in 2027. Higgins, an Irish model and reality television personality known for her appearances on ‘Love Island’ and ‘The Traitors US’, will step into the role previously held by Cilla Black.

Angela Jain, head of content at Disney+ EMEA, stated that Higgins is a ‘perfect match’ for the series due to her ‘straight-talking humour’ and experience as a reality dating contestant. The production is scheduled to begin filming at a secret location later this year and will feature ‘innovative format twists’ while maintaining the original premise of contestants choosing between mystery suitors.

The original ‘Blind Date’ format, which aired on ITV from 1985 to 2003, featured contestants selecting partners from behind a sliding wall.
