Maura Higgins to host Disney+ reboot of Blind Date

Disney+ has confirmed that Maura Higgins will host a reboot of the dating show ‘Blind Date’, scheduled for release in 2027. Higgins, who rose to prominence on ‘Love Island’ in 2019, will step into the role previously held by the late Cilla Black and Paul O’Grady.

The new format will retain the original premise where singletons ask questions of three potential suitors hidden behind a wall. However, the production will introduce modern updates, including a ‘special Blind Date resort’ where cameras will monitor the daters' interactions. Filming is expected to begin later this year at a secret location.

Angela Jain, head of content at Disney+ EMEA, stated that Higgins is the ‘perfect match’ for the series, citing her ‘straight-talking humour’ and experience as a reality dating contestant as key assets to bring the show to new audiences.
