Maurício Mattar returns to TV Globo in new novela “Por Você”

Brazilian actor Maurício Mattar, 62, is back on TV Globo after a nearly two‑decade hiatus. He joins the cast of the upcoming 7 p.m. telenovela Por Você, set to premiere on 17 August, playing the businessman Gilberto Junqueira. At the same time, Mattar appears in the Globoplay series Jogada de Risco, created and starring Cauã Reymond, where he portrays a football‑coach character.

Mattar said the public’s warm response on social media encouraged his return and that he no longer feels the need to prove himself. He described the new projects as compelling and highlighted the high‑level cast and direction as key reasons for accepting the roles.
