Maurício Ribeiro steers restructuring of Portuguese TV project Conta Lá
Maurício Ribeiro, the chief operating officer and principal shareholder of the Portuguese television project Conta Lá, will preside over a general shareholders' meeting on Thursday, 6 August. The meeting will decide the project's future, including the election of a new management commission, approval of a restructuring plan and the possible admission of new investors.
Ribeiro controls 95 % of Baú D’Iniciativas – Unipessoal, which holds 67.3 % of Conta Lá’s capital. The remaining 28.8 % belongs to Platform Coerente, a company 70 % owned by former TVI director Sérgio Figueiredo (who is leaving the project) and 30 % by ex‑journalist Margarida Pinto Correia. Ribeiro’s background spans photography for UNICEF and the United Nations, as well as executive roles in media production.
The restructuring follows earlier legal scrutiny, including a 2015 criminal complaint filed by the SCML concerning contracts worth about €150 000. The upcoming vote will shape the ownership and governance of Conta Lá moving forward.
