Maurice Kamto and MRC file defamation lawsuit in Douala
The Mouvement pour la Renaissance du Cameroun (MRC) and its former president, Professor Maurice Kamto, have initiated urgent legal proceedings against Salomon Miloumi Beas and content creator Henri Ulrich Ngoko Kamgang. The case, heard at the Douala-Bonanjo Court of First Instance, concerns allegations of defamation and illicit online activities.
The legal dispute stems from social media content and interviews released in September 2026. Specifically, Salomon Beas, a former MRC member, alleged that the party held meetings intended to ‘destroy’ FECAFOOT president Samuel Eto'o and had funded influencers to damage his reputation. The MRC has categorically denied these claims.
Through their legal representatives, the MRC and Kamto are seeking an injunction to compel the defendants to immediately deposit evidence supporting their accusations with the court registry. They are also demanding the permanent removal of the incriminated publications, subject to a daily fine of 1,000,000 FCFA for non-compliance.
