Mauricio Dubón to auction custom cleats for Honduran schools

Atlanta Braves baseball player Mauricio Dubón is auctioning his custom cleats to support educational initiatives in Honduras. During a Major League Baseball game against the Chicago Cubs, Dubón wore personalized footwear featuring the Honduran flag, Mayan-inspired elements, and references to the ‘One Thousand Schools’ project.

The proceeds from the auction, scheduled for the end of 2026, will be donated to the 1,000 Schools Foundation led by influencer Shin Fujiyama. The foundation aims to build and rehabilitate educational facilities in various regions of Honduras, with a specific focus on rural communities, while also providing teacher training to combat poverty through education.

Dubón, the only Honduran currently playing in the MLB, stated that the initiative is intended to raise awareness so that children in Honduras have the opportunity to pursue their dreams. The gesture coincided with Honduran independence month and Hispanic Heritage Month.
