Mauricio Kuri leads Mexican governor approval rankings

According to the August 2026 Mitofsky Ranking published by El Economista, Querétaro Governor Mauricio Kuri González holds the highest citizen approval rating among Mexico's state governors at 61.8 percent.

Ricardo Gallardo Cardona, the governor of San Luis Potosí, follows closely in second place with 61.7 percent approval. Clara Brugada, the Head of Government of Mexico City, ranks third with 61.5 percent. Other top-rated officials include Julio Menchaca of Hidalgo (60.9 percent) and Manolo Jiménez of Coahuila (60.6 percent).

The national average approval rating for the 32 state executives was 52.8 percent in August, an increase from 52.2 percent in July. This represents one of the highest national averages recorded since at least 2023. Eighteen governors recorded approval levels above the national average, while 14 fell below it.
