Mauricio Macri defends private ownership models in Argentine football

Former President Mauricio Macri has renewed his support for the introduction of Sports Anonymous Societies (SAD) in Argentine football. During an interview, Macri argued that allowing private capital into clubs could improve the local league's competitiveness.

Macri cited the club Talleres as a successful example of a modern management model, stating, “In Talleres there is a gentleman who is like the owner, and it worked.” He noted that other South American nations, such as Colombia, Chile, and Brazil, have already transitioned much of their football to these corporate models.

As a proponent of liberal economic principles, Macri suggested that the transition to private ownership should be optional rather than mandatory, allowing for financial flexibility and reform within the sport.
