Mauricio Macri reports no progress in PRO and La Libertad Avanza electoral talks
Former President Mauricio Macri has stated that negotiations between his party, PRO, and the ruling La Libertad Avanza (LLA) regarding a potential electoral alliance for 2027 have made no progress. Speaking at a charity event organized by the Hacemos! Foundation, Macri noted that representatives Cristian Ritondo and Fernando de Andreis reported a lack of advancement in the biweekly meetings held at the Casa Rosada.
The stalemate comes amid growing political tensions. While the PRO has provided support to the national government, the party has recently voiced objections to the 2027 Budget and expressed differences regarding international diplomacy, specifically following the election of Lula da Silva in Brazil.
Government officials have responded by suggesting that internal divisions within the PRO, particularly between Mauricio Macri and Buenos Aires City Chief Jorge Macri, are the primary obstacles to reaching a formal agreement. The negotiations involve key figures such as Chief of Staff Diego Santilli and deputies Martín and Eduardo Menem.
