Mauricio Macri urges appointment of top judges in Argentina

Former president Mauricio Macri said on Thursday that Argentina must "name the best judges and not be friends with any of them," supporting the Senate's recent approval of new judicial panels. He praised the Senate's green light for the list that includes judge Verónica Michelli, a nomination opposed by President Javier Milei and defended by Patricia Bullrich.

Macri stressed the need to respect institutions, uphold judicial independence, and maintain confidence to attract investment and jobs. He noted he expects the president to sign the judge list. While attending a tribute to the 76th South American Bridge Championship in the Buenos Aires Legislature, he hinted that he could run for office next year, positioning himself as a counter‑point to Milei's approach.
