Mauricio Martínez criticizes Timbiriche series over Sasha Sokol portrayal

Mexican actor and singer Mauricio Martínez has publicly criticized the upcoming Timbiriche series on ViX, accusing the production of revictimizing singer Sasha Sokol. Martínez expressed strong opposition to the series using the controversial relationship between Sokol and producer Luis de Llano as a dramatic and commercial plot point.

Sokol has previously spoken out regarding the relationship, which began when she was 14 years old and de Llano was 39. Martínez argued that converting such painful experiences into entertainment is an act of insensitivity that prioritizes commercial interests and nostalgia over the well-being of the individuals involved. He stated, “The story of Sasha and Luis de Llano is not a dramatic resource or a business opportunity... Questioning this series is not censoring: it is demanding ethics and sensitivity.”

Martínez, who has previously shared his own experiences regarding industry abuse, noted that Sokol’s decision to speak her truth inspired him to break his own silence. He warned that presenting these real-life experiences as spectacle can expose victims to further pain and turn their trauma into a public consumer product.
