Regarding historical results, Pochettino argued that Tottenham should have been awarded the 2016-17 Premier League title. This claim follows an investigation into Chelsea, which revealed 74 potential breaches of Football Association rules involving undisclosed payments made between 2011 and 2018. Pochettino contended that Tottenham competed under unequal financial circumstances and that the title should have been awarded to the runners-up if penalties had been applied to Chelsea.
