Mauricio Silva presents El Tatú to preserve Salvadoran historical memory
Author Mauricio Silva presented his new book, “El Tatú,” at Universidad Don Bosco in Antiguo Cuscatlán. The work consists of eight short stories that blend real-life events with fictional elements to preserve and honor the historical memory of El Salvador.
The title story, “El Tatú,” reconstructs the experiences of clandestine guerrilla military hospitals during the country's armed conflict, specifically focusing on the stories of nurses working in makeshift mountain facilities. Other stories in the collection address themes such as the deterioration of democracy, the ethical dilemmas faced by government officials, and the concepts of friendship and forgiveness.
