Mauricio Tapia of Los Retros charged with felony counts involving a child

Mauricio Tapia, the 26-year-old frontman of the indie-rock band Los Retros, has been charged with four felony counts of unlawful acts involving a child under the age of 10. The charges were filed in Ventura County Superior Court.

Tapia faces additional allegations stating that the victim was vulnerable and that he allegedly exploited a position of trust. Following the arrest, the band's label, Stones Throw Records, announced it is dropping the group and taking steps to disassociate from Tapia and his work.

The arrest occurred shortly before Los Retros was scheduled to perform at the Stones Throw 30 music festival in Los Angeles. The band, which performed at Coachella earlier this year and maintains a significant presence on Spotify, has already been removed from the festival lineup due to unforeseen circumstances. Tapia has not entered a plea, and bail has been set at $3 million.
