Mauritania and Senegal to host inaugural Friendship Week

Mauritania and Senegal are set to host the first edition of the Senegal-Mauritania Friendship Week in Nouakchott from November 13 to 20, 2026. The event, organized by the Association des Maures du Sénégal under the presidency of Dr. Mewoulout Dieng, aims to strengthen historical, cultural, and religious ties between the two nations.

Under the theme ‘Youth and Development,’ the initiative seeks to promote cooperation, solidarity, and youth empowerment. The scheduling follows consultations between Senegalese Ambassador El Hadj Maguette Seye and Mauritanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Mohamed Salem Merzoug. The event was rescheduled from its original July dates due to technical and administrative reasons.
