Mauritania initiates national political dialogue process

The Mauritanian government has entered the active consultation phase of a national political dialogue, a strategic initiative stemming from President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani’s electoral program. Acting government spokesperson Mohamed Malainine Ould Eyih stated that the process aims to allow the population to deliberate on critical national issues regarding the country's present and future.

Structural milestones for the dialogue are currently being finalized, including the appointment of a national coordinator and the development of an integrated roadmap in consultation with relevant stakeholders. The government emphasized that the success of this inclusive process depends on the constructive involvement of political parties and national stakeholders.

President El Ghazouani has committed to implementing the full range of conclusions and consensus reached through these discussions. Additionally, regarding recent government changes, the spokesperson clarified that the appointment or dismissal of ministers remains the exclusive constitutional prerogative of the President.
