Mauritius authorities arrest man for smuggling cannabis resin

A 36-year-old French national has been arrested in Mauritius following the interception of a package containing cannabis and cannabis resin. The narcotics were discovered hidden within the cover of a children's comic book to evade detection.

On August 20, officers from the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) and the Customs Anti-Narcotics Section (Cans) intercepted an express mail parcel arriving from Paris at the Plaisance Air Transport Services warehouse in Plaine-Magnien. The package contained three rectangular packets of cannabis resin.

Authorities conducted a controlled delivery operation to identify the recipient. The suspect, a resident of Solitude, was arrested on August 25 while taking possession of the parcel. Total seizures included 0.86 grams of cannabis and 14 grams of cannabis resin.
