Mauritius braces for moderate rain and gusty winds as nearby anticyclone intensifies
A high‑pressure system moving southeast of the Mascarenes is influencing Mauritius' weather. The anticyclone is generating moderate trade‑wind showers, intermittent rain and fog over the island's eastern and central plateau areas. Temperatures are expected to range between 21 °C and 27 °C, with daytime highs of 22‑24 °C inland and 26‑28 °C along the coast.
Wind gusts may reach up to 60 km/h, especially in exposed coastal spots, and sea conditions are rough with swells around 2.5 m. Authorities advise mariners to avoid open‑water activities beyond the reefs. The weather will improve later in the afternoon, with clearer skies and lighter winds before another brief spell of showers in the evening.
