Mauritius experiences strong gusts and showers as anticyclone moves nearby
A powerful anticyclone positioned south of the Mascarene Islands is influencing Mauritius on 3 August 2026. East‑southeast winds will blow at about 25 km/h with gusts reaching up to 60 km/h, especially on exposed coasts and higher ground.
The weather will be partly cloudy in the morning with light showers mainly over the eastern side and the central plateau, followed by clearer skies. Afternoon clouds will bring passing showers and fog on elevated areas, persisting into the night. Temperatures are expected to range from 22 °C to 24 °C on the plateau and 26 °C to 28 °C along the coast, with overnight lows between 17 °C and 23 °C. Sea conditions will feature swells of around 3 m beyond the reefs, prompting advisories against offshore and lagoon activities in the west and south.
