Mauritius hosts business forums for South African trade and French travel agencies
The Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) and Wesgro hosted the South Africa–Mauritius Business Forum in Ebène to strengthen economic ties. The forum aimed to move the bilateral relationship beyond simple goods trading toward joint production, services, and investment. A delegation of South African companies, particularly from the food and beverage sectors, met with Mauritian operators to seek distributors and long-term partners.
Since 2020, South Africa has been the primary destination for Mauritian exports, accounting for 13% of the country's total exports in 2025. Wesgro officials noted that the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) provides a framework for expanding these commercial opportunities.
Separately, the Entreprises du Voyage (EDV) Grand Est held its convention in Mauritius. Led by new president Fabrice Poulain, the gathering focused on industry resilience, artificial intelligence, and evolving consumer behaviors. The organization continues to provide legal, social, and fiscal support to its members while seeking to expand its membership base.
