Mauritius launches digital tool to estimate pension reforms

The Mauritian government has launched the State Age Pension (SAP) Estimate Application, a digital tool designed to help citizens understand the impact of upcoming pension reforms. Launched by the ministries of Finance, Social Integration, and Information Technology, the platform is accessible via a web portal and the Korek mobile application.

Users can input their birth month and year to determine their eligibility age and estimated monthly pension amounts. The tool aims to provide transparency regarding the progressive increase in the legal retirement age, which is scheduled to rise from 60 to 65 years.

Under the reform, the reference age will increase in stages: between September 2026 and August 2027, the age will rise to 62 for those turning 60 during that period. The age will continue to climb annually until reaching the standard of 65 years in September 2029. Officials stated the system is intended to provide clarity to all citizens, regardless of their current age, regarding how these changes affect their personal financial futures.
