Mauritius launches international tender for wind and battery energy project
The Central Electricity Board has launched an international tender for a renewable energy project in Plaine-des-Roches, Mauritius. The project aims to develop a hybrid installation with a capacity between 15 and 20 megawatts, combining a wind farm with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
This initiative is part of a broader energy transition strategy to diversify the country's energy mix beyond solar photovoltaics to include wind, floating solar, and biomass. The integration of battery storage is intended to manage the intermittency of renewable production, allowing electricity to be stored when conditions are favorable and used during fluctuations in wind production. Bidders must submit their offers by December 9, 2026.
