Global 2027 budget planning: France and Algeria announce major fiscal shifts

Multiple nations are finalizing their 2027 fiscal frameworks, with significant shifts in taxation and public spending.

In France, the government has proposed a 2027 budget aimed at a 54 billion euro recovery effort. Key measures include reducing the tax allowance ceiling for retirees from 4,439 to 3,000 euros and implementing a temporary tax relief for family donations, raising the exemption threshold to 50,000 euros. Additionally, interest on national debt is projected to reach 91 billion euros in 2027. Environmental regulations will also tighten, with cadmium thresholds in fertilizers set to decrease to 60 mg/kg by 2027.

Algeria is preparing its largest budget to date, with planned expenditures reaching 17,882.6 billion dinars and a projected GDP growth of 4.2%. The 2027 plan includes potential fuel price adjustments and new tax rules for the diaspora importing vehicles.

Other regional updates include Burkina Faso adopting a 2027 budget draft of 4,200 billion FCFA in revenue against 4,800 billion FCFA in expenses, and Bulgaria approving a 2026 budget for its energy security fund with revenues of 1.261 billion euros.
