Mauritius Revenue Authority initiates judicial sale of Port-Louis property
The Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) has initiated a judicial sale by levy regarding a property located at 14, rue Maupin in Port-Louis. The legal proceeding was requested by the Director General of the MRA against the company Peng & Co Ltd.
The property involved is a 330.65 square meter mixed-use site consisting of a building and a house made of cement blocks. The hearing is scheduled for September 17, 2026, at 13:30 before the Master’s Court in the new Supreme Court building in Port-Louis.
This type of forced sale occurs when a mortgaged property is auctioned following a debtor's default on payments. While the MRA introduced an electronic auction system in 2017, this specific case involving real estate may represent a direct intervention by the tax authority in a judicial adjudication sale.
