Mauritius State Trading Corporation launches international tender for oil cargo inspection

The State Trading Corporation (STC) of Mauritius has issued an international call for tenders to appoint a service provider responsible for the control and inspection of its oil cargoes from 1 November 2026 to 31 October 2027. The contract, renewable for up to two additional years based on performance, will cover the verification of approximately 500,000 metric tonnes of petroleum products annually, including 210,000 t of gasoline, 240,000 t of diesel, 310,000 t of jet fuel, and 375,000 t of heavy fuel oil, with possible additional volumes of marine gas oil and heavy oil. Inspections will be conducted from the arrival of vessels at Port‑Louis through transfer to local users, with part of the stock held at the Mer Rouge Oil Storage Terminal (MOST). The tender aims to improve traceability and strengthen oversight of fuel imports, a strategic and financial priority for the island nation.

Applicants must demonstrate at least two years of experience in oil‑cargo control and the capacity to handle large volumes. Successful bidders will be selected by the Qatari‑hosted structure of the STC and will be required to report inspection results to stakeholders such as the Central Electricity Board.
