Mauritius to introduce Business Facilitation Bill to boost investment

Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam has announced that the Mauritian government is finalizing a new Business Facilitation Bill. The legislation aims to streamline administrative procedures, reduce hurdles for investors, and enhance the nation’s status as an international financial center.

Announced during HSBC’s 110th anniversary event in Balaclava, the bill is intended to create a more transparent and predictable business environment. Consultations are currently being conducted by the Economic Development Board (EDB) to improve inter-institutional coordination and accelerate decision-making processes.

Ramgoolam emphasized that attracting investment must be supported by robust institutions, the rule of law, and a rigorous regulatory framework to maintain global credibility in the financial services sector.
