Mauritius to recruit Nepali workers via government-to-government mechanism

Mauritius has agreed to recruit workers from Nepal through a government-to-government (G2G) mechanism. Under this arrangement, employers will bear the recruitment costs to ensure safe and dignified employment opportunities for Nepali citizens.

The High Commission of Mauritius in New Delhi has provided a revised draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) to Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The proposed agreement covers various sectors, including manufacturing, construction, agriculture, tourism, and information technology.

The revised draft includes provisions for a government-operated recruitment process, the selection of skilled workers, adherence to the laws of both nations, employer responsibilities, worker rights, and repatriation procedures following contract completion.
