Maurizio Gasparri demands accountability for Milan unrest
Maurizio Gasparri, President of the Senate Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, has called for strict economic and criminal accountability following violent unrest in Milan and other cities. Gasparri noted that the disturbances resulted in millions of euros in damages and left 141 law enforcement officers injured.
Gasparri demanded that identified individuals responsible for the damage provide immediate reimbursement. He further suggested that if offenders are minors without financial means, their parents should be held liable for failing to provide adequate upbringing. He criticized political opponents for allegedly protecting those involved in the violence and urged the judiciary to avoid mass releases of suspects, advocating instead for immediate trials in cases of flagrant crimes.
