Maurizio Landini urges Italy to adopt Tuscany's anti‑caporalato tools

CGIL general secretary Maurizio Landini called on the Meloni government to extend the anti‑caporalato instruments developed in Tuscany to the whole country. He made the appeal after the regional council presented a draft law against agricultural exploitation and after two protocols were signed in Siena and Grosseto to combat irregular farm labour.

Landini highlighted the proposed “Indices of Coherence” – a system that calculates the minimum number of work hours required for each type and quantity of agricultural production – and urged immediate enforcement of law 199/2016 on these indices, making compliance mandatory for growers, processors and large retailers.
